EE Rescue Mission

So yesterday I get home from work and see some shit on twitter from my friend Billfold who lives in DC. He was asking for help from someone who knows something about motorcycles. I respond to him and less than a minute later we're on the phone and his boy Bobby is broken down about 15 minutes away from my house on his way to NC. I get in the van and head over and pick him up and his rear wheel bearing has taken itself apart on his Sporty. We throw the bike in the back and head to Departure to get a new bearing and they tell us they have the bearing but you need a special tool to get it in and he can leave the bike overnight if he wants and they'll do it first thing in the morning. Well Bobby is trying to get to Raleigh tonight and I have a spare wheel at the garage so we go back to the garage and throw an old tire on my spare wheel and swap the rotor and sprocket and I send him on his way. I'm gonna take his wheel in to get fixed today and hopefully they can do it before tomorrow afternoon so we can get back up on Friday when he heads back through town and switch wheels again. I had never met Bobby before last night when I picked him up but he's a chill dude and we got him straight so thats what matters.

Lee from Departure Bike Works was kind enough to show me his Knucklehead today. Such a nice bike.

Sissy Shit

Put in a lot of hours at Easy End this weekend. Rejetted the sporty to get rid of all the carb coughing and took off the vacuum sensor (thanks to Departure for telling me how to get rid of it). Bike runs SO much better with a 48 slow jet than with a 45.

Started working on the trident sissy bar I've been thinking about for a few months and got it wrapped up today. I got it with my Triumph and it was too wide for the Sportster so I cut it up and made it work. It turned out pretty fucking cool. Never again will I ride 750 miles with a stupid fucking backpack on.

Sundaze

Rewiring the pan at matts today. Removed the 3 feet of Bell Atlantic telephone wire from the bike, wired in a few tricks, and cleaned it up a lot. Thanks for the help matt.

Springer!? I barely know er'

Got these offset springer legs from Lee at departure about a month ago at a steal of a price. Today i began stripping all the paint off and getting real tweaker on them, looking for cracks and stress fractures and anything that looked unsafe. The front leg has obviously been painted a few times so thats where i started. the paint on the rear leg looks original so i havent touched it yet. a bag of steel wool later and im down to bare metal on the front leg. not a single crack or dent on it. its in pretty good shape for something thats over 60 years old . gonna sooth things out a little bit then paint it black and run it. thanks again Lee. im super stoked on these.

found the casting numbers hiding under a few thick coats of paint
hieroglyphics at the end..

These legs look straight to you?

Accident Prone = Parts Needed

Some retard this morning decided he needed to cross 4 lanes of toll traffic and cut me off. I was doing about 40 slowing down to pull up to the empty toll lane and he was almost perpendicular to traffic trying to get to the cash lane which was way backed up. I lock up the rear brake trying to stop and slide sideways. Though I had it under control and the bike high sided and tossed me off. Picked it up, dusted it and me off and checked the damage and still had time to pay my toll and make his sorry ass pull over just so I could tell him it was his fault I went down even though I wasn't calling the cops. So if you have an extra of any of the below lying around hit me up and I'll buy them off you:

6" or 8" High Narrow Bars (or anything cool really)
Headlight eyebrow (maybe the whole setup)
Bottom Triple Clamp
