Straight Up Luck

Our friend Casey locked his bike up to this tree during Irene. The fucking thing managed to fall over with the bike ATTACHED and still nothing. Also missed his 2010 Tacoma by inches.

Final Hour

So i went to work putting the finishing touches on my bike tonight. Fluids topped off, loctite down to the last bolt, everything torqued, just getting her ready for her maiden voyage. Took me long enough. As i roll out off my storage unit i pull in the clutch to find that its somehow out of adjustment. no problem, this will just take a second.... before i could even get the derby cover off, out of nowhere, it starts pouring. shit luck. it still hasn't stopped. guess the hurricane is moving in a little early. anyway, ill be on the road with this bad bitch in no time. untill then, time to batten down the hatches and ride out the storm.

Never Metric... Again

Took a trip out to Jacksonville today to get tattooed by Mike Wilson of Inksmith Rogers tattoo. Needless to say, he knocked it out of the park with this one. Mike is a rad dude with some awesome stories to tell. The tattoo is reminiscent of a time where H-D really was an AMERICAN motorcycle company... days long before the metric VROD.

So Stupid

Today's Lesson:

Motorcycles need gasoline.

Ran out of gas on the way to work this morning and since I don't have a reserve and forgot to get it last night on my way home I got to push my bike about 10 blocks from the Chamberlayne Exit off 95 through Jackson Ward to a gas station.

Sunday

Rolled up to the EE yesterday to help Andrew change a tire for his shovel project that he's moving along on. Once we got the tire on, while he was working on his front end and his sissy bar I decided I'd try to mock up my dual headlight setup that I traded Mike and Hunter for over the last few weeks. I used some 1-1/4" clevis hangers for a temporary mount and ordered some sturdier P clamps this morning. I liked it so much that I decided to leave it on for a while.

Egghead

Andrew pulled down one of my helmets to check it out yesterday and it looks like somebody else had been getting a lot more use out of it than i was:

Flea market find

I saw this helmet and was sold on it when I started talking to the lady who was selling it. Turns out it belonged to a friend of hers that was in a club and he's been back and forth across this country several times while wearing it. She also dropped a story on me about a man being buried up to his neck in sand in the Arizona desert. I liked the stories as much as I like the helmet.

Shitluck

Been a rough week for my vehicles. Bike got knocked over Sunday night in front of the house. Whoever did it picked it back up for me so that was nice of them, but not nice enough to leave a note. Then Friday morning I went out to get in the van since the bike was in the shop and that had been run into while parked in front of the house, too. Neither one is real bad but nothing sucks more than dealing with insurance companies. Also while I was riding back from a jobsite today my fucking plate that holds my footpeg and master cylinder on broke off because when the bike got knocked over it must have cracked and I didnt notice it.

On the bright side I got to stop at this cool ass abandoned building I've driven by for years and never had a reason to stop:

Stoked for Hunter!

His shovel is finally on the road. This thing was giving him a time. Still needs some tweaks here and there but I think he's got it going pretty well at this point.

Greased Lightnin!

Andrew and I picked this bad bitch up last night. She needs a little surgery though since she won't sit still. Neutral is kinda fucked up but we'll work that out.

The Home Stretch

Bikes finally coming together. The last thing I need to do is find a headlight and do a little more wiring. Switching to a peanut tank and different fender in the near future but for now its time to ride.

Free stickers

Email me (kurtxweishaar at gmail dot com) your address if you want some. Then email me photos of where you put them and I'll post em up here if its a cool spot. I don't want a bunch of pictures of peoples toolboxes, only if you actually put them somewhere cool like on a cop car or on your girl's hairy bush or something. They turned out really well and they're pretty big (about the size of a smartphone) so get some free ones while we've got em.

Sometimes you ride on the back

Yesterday a friend of ours truck got stolen and the cops found it about 10 hours later in an alley in one of the shittiest neighborhoods in Richmond. We went over to drive his roommate's truck home and I ended up on the back of Andrew's bike. Very weird night but stoked that Greg got his truck back unharmed.
