Whoooops

This is what happens when the positive is on the negative and the negative is on the positive.

Presto! You've turned that perfectly good motorcycle into a ashy lawn chair ornament contraption in just minutes!

18 Days

I started taking my bike apart on October 25th and took it for the first ride in the new frame on 11/11/11. 18 days. Got a small fender spacing issue but nothing that can't be fixed with a few turns of a nut. So far I love the bike this way. Way lighter and quicker and honestly not that much worse of a ride than the stock setup. Rode it to work this morning and was bummed I couldn't keep going. Here it is as it sits. Gonna ride it for the next week or two and get everything dialed in and then its back apart for a trip up the street to Fred for some paint.

Well I got some pipes made

And if the fucking post office could get their act together and deliver my battery I ordered a week ago I'd be up and running. Until then I'm just waiting around.

Anybody know anyone that does decent and reasonably priced chrome or nickel plating in the central Virginia area? I'm not trying to have to mail these pipes to Abu Dhabi to get them chromed.

Around the garage

Roscoe's Chili Challenge

Rode out to lakeland with isaac this weekend to get weird at roscoes for a couple of days. Such an insane party. About the closest ill ever get to knowing what the biker parties of the seventies were all about. The pictures say it all. Ill definitely be there next year.

Getting there

Took it off the lift last night for the first time since I started. Forgot i need to add a fork stop so i made that last night and I'll weld it on tonight. Then I just have to cut off the kickstand lug that was welded on the frame when I got it and it's time to start wiring. I won't have my battery until next week so that sucks but I think it'll take a day or two to get the ignition and wiring straightened out. If anybody's installed a Dyna S ignition before leave me a comment on here because I may have a few quick questions for you. I don't know why they don't give you a fucking wiring diagram with these things but I'm sure it won't be too hard to figure out.

Garage Days

I've been at the garage every day for the last 9 days working on my bike. I haven't been this excited about finishing a project in a LONG time. Took a few photos the other night but they aren't up to date with the progress. I've done almost all of the fab work with the exception of mounting the expensive ass tiny battery I ordered yesterday and making a mount for my highway bars. The oil tank is mounted and plumbed, and I welded the kickstand on last night. I ended up just cutting it off of the stock frame and welding it to the new one. All I really have left to do to finish the mockup is put oil in it, install the taillight, wire it, and install the ignition system. Here's a few pics of it as of Monday night:

Slow Rolling

Got the fork tubes on, 6 over stock. New bars from Special 79. Waiting on some nuts and bolts in the mail. Working on mounting the tank at the moment.
